Salvation Army : The Winter Project
The Salvation Army winter collection has become an annual event.
In 2008, as part of its role in inner city development, Afhco approached all of our staff and tenants requesting donations of blankets, food and old clothes for the less fortunate who had to brave the cold Johannesburg winter on a daily basis. The response was overwhelming, especially from the Afhco tenants. What started off as a small collection in the HR Office became a massive collection of blankets, toys, food, pillows and clothes until it had to be moved to a storeroom for more space. All these were handed over to the Salvation Army to distribute to the inner city homeless and less fortunate.
This has now become an annual event at Afhco with many tenants enquiring throughout the year as to when the collection starts.
