CityKidz
In an effort to develop the inner-city community, Afhco opened CityKidz school.
The school gives young children in their formative years access to a high standard of education in a pleasant and open environment in the Johannesburg CBD.
Afhco is proud to announce that the school had a 98% pass rate in 2008, its first year in operation.
The school was acquired in September 2007 and set up to educate children, concentrating on Math’s, Science and Computer Studies. The refurbishment and running of the school is dependent on Afhco, together with donations of either money or services from our wonderful sponsors.
CityKidz currently provides quality care and education to children from Grade R to Grade 7, with a vision of creating an adjoining high school. The school currently has over 300 pupils and is open to the public. Teaching and care is provided by handpicked, qualified teachers and caregivers under the guidance of its experienced principal, Mr. Pierre De Lange (Previously from Bramley Primary School).
The school is situated on approximately 1 acre of ground with 11 classrooms, offices, a computer room, sick room and hall as well as providing more than 3000m² of open playground area. There is ample space for outdoor activities such as soccer and netball, climbing and activity equipment.
The school recently opened the one and only Road Safety Training Centre in the Johannesburg CBD, aimed at educating its pupils about road sense and safety in a fun environment. Surrounding schools in the area have been invited to use the Road Safety Training Centre in order to increase traffic awareness and decrease the number of children hit by cars & taxi’s in the inner-city.
